Last Wednesday, Devin, Jessica, and her boyfriend, Cameron, came up from SUU because Devin's call had come in the mail. Around 7:30 pm Devin opened his call and found out he was going to the Spain-Bilbao mission. He leaves July 2nd. He'll spend 3 weeks in the Provo MTC and about 6 weeks in the Madrid MTC. We were so excited about his call. We started calling family to let them know. We also called friends. One of the friends was Landon Nielsen. We found out that Landon also received his call and his family was coming over that night to open his call at 8:15 pm. A great friend at school told us he'd treat our family to dinner at the Dairy Keen. While he was taking our order, Landon called Devin and told him he'd been called to the same mission-Spain, Bilbao. He also was leaving on July 2nd. We were blown away that two best friends would get their calls on the same day to the same mission and enter on the same day. These two guys were also Ward Missionaries and were companions here in our ward. They were co-captains on the swim team. They have been best friends since they were five years old and now they get to serve in the same mission and have similar experiences.
Now we're in the getting passports and other mission stuff mode. We were hoping that Devin would leave in May so that he'd be home in time for Carissa's graduation. But since he's going to miss it, I'm glad that we'll have time for him to get home and do the final preparations.
What are your thoughts about this call? We're psyched.

FELICITACIONES DEVIN!!! That's so awesome you're headed to Spain...good place, not that I'm baised or anything. I'm sure you'll be talking with Mark Padilla and Kiren McBride eventually, who served in the Spain Bilbao mission (of course, not as cool as the Spain Malaga mission - just kidding). You'll love it! Congratulations!!! That's like Aaron and Trea only better!! It looks like everyone has pretty much covered all the topics who to talk to and what not. So have fun getting everything together, it will go by really fast!!
Mark really liked the Madrid MTC he could see the temple out his bedroom window. It's beautiful.

Congratulations Devin!! You are going to the BEST mission in the world (of course I'm not biased or anything). We'll definitely have to keep in touch while you're there, so you can update me on the mission and the people there. :) I remember writing Mark a few times while he was there as well... You'll love it there. Good luck with the preparations, getting a visa, etc. I had to stay in the MTC an extra 2 weeks because of visa delays--hopefully that won't happen to you. :)
