Devin and Jessica Flory married

Devin married Jessica Lee Jensen on May 21, 2011. They were married in the Mt. Timpanogos temple on a beautiful day. They met because of our cow Sister. Jessica's dad was looking for a cow and found her at our place. Devin met Jessica and they decided to look each other up at BYU since they were both going to be there. It was magic and now they are married.

Devin & Landon are together

Two weeks ago Devin and Landon got to be assigned companions. Devin told us that he was being transferred to Ponferrada to be with Elder Clegg. I asked Landon's mother if he was being transferred and she said that he was being transferred to Ponferrada to be with Elder Driggs. We wondered if President Clegg was pulling a trick on them or if there was some mistake. As it turned out, Presidente Clegg sent Devin a fax with a list of transfers and Devin's fax said that Landon was going to stay in Vigo in a threesome. Landon's fax said that Devin was being transferred to Pamplona. Landon was told to meet an elder at the train station to help him do his residency. Imagine his surprise when Devin walked off the train with his bags. Neither of them knew they were going to be together until they saw each other at the train station. Their mission president is a pretty tricky guy. He has a great sense of humor.

Our New Cow

We have been milking a new cow since December. Her name is Sister, or Sistah, as the kids say. She's a Jersey cow and has been fun and challenging at the same time. Braden has a love/hate relationship with her. One day he loves her and the next day he hates her. When he wants her to give a lot of milk, he talks sweet to her and loves her up. When he doesn't care, he just drags her into the barn to milk her. Personally, I can't tell a difference in the quantity of milk she gives but he thinks it makes a difference. She doesn't stand perfectly still when we milk. She always seems to need to step around and sometimes she puts her foot in the bucket. Hence, the hate part of the relationship. We are feeding four calves from her, feeding ourselves and a few of the neighbors with the milk we get from her. She's giving about 5.5 gallons of milk per day pretty consistently. In July, our other cow, Daisy will have her calf. She's a Holstein and should give a bunch more milk. I'm anticipating about 7 gallons per day-maybe more. We'll have to get more calves or probably sell one of the cows. We don't have time to milk two cows.

Jessica and Cameron Henrie Married

Yes, it's true. Our oldest daughter has tied the knot. She married Cameron Henrie on June 6th in the Bountiful Temple. The weather was cool but not unbearable. Her reception was held in a nice barn in Charleston. A family named the Pelo's allowed her to decorated their basketball court barn for their reception. It turned out really cute. Twila Gutierrez catered the food (which was delicious), Brenda Metzger made the centerpieces, Andrea Nelson and Kara Pelo made the decorations, and I put together the announcements and thank you cards. We were able to find a dress on ebay that Jessica really liked. We decided to do a picture with a mat board for the guest signing. Then we had to go out and find blouses that matched Jessica's colors which were lavender and pale yellow. Melanie Jepperson ended up making Carissa and McKenna's blouses. We couldn't find any that were the right color.
The kids really like Cameron. He's the youngest of five children. He lives in Panguitch, Utah and served a mission to Ghana, Africa. He's 22 and Jessica is 20 years old.

Devin's Mission Call

Last Wednesday, Devin, Jessica, and her boyfriend, Cameron, came up from SUU because Devin's call had come in the mail. Around 7:30 pm Devin opened his call and found out he was going to the Spain-Bilbao mission. He leaves July 2nd. He'll spend 3 weeks in the Provo MTC and about 6 weeks in the Madrid MTC. We were so excited about his call. We started calling family to let them know. We also called friends. One of the friends was Landon Nielsen. We found out that Landon also received his call and his family was coming over that night to open his call at 8:15 pm. A great friend at school told us he'd treat our family to dinner at the Dairy Keen. While he was taking our order, Landon called Devin and told him he'd been called to the same mission-Spain, Bilbao. He also was leaving on July 2nd. We were blown away that two best friends would get their calls on the same day to the same mission and enter on the same day. These two guys were also Ward Missionaries and were companions here in our ward. They were co-captains on the swim team. They have been best friends since they were five years old and now they get to serve in the same mission and have similar experiences.

Now we're in the getting passports and other mission stuff mode. We were hoping that Devin would leave in May so that he'd be home in time for Carissa's graduation. But since he's going to miss it, I'm glad that we'll have time for him to get home and do the final preparations.
